This Pounamu Toki is a taonga of strength, leadership, and grounded energy. Carved by emerging Māori artist Hemi (age 15), it honours the tradition of the toki (adze), once used in both physical and spiritual shaping — of wood, of people, of purpose.
Crafted from authentic pounamu (New Zealand greenstone), this piece has a deep natural tone with subtle marbling, echoing the strength and calm of te taiao (the natural world). The binding, done by Hemi himself, is clean, strong, and woven with intention — a mark of his developing skill and deep respect for the artform.
🔹 Material: Genuine Pounamu – sourced in Aotearoa
🔹 Style: Traditional toki shape – symbol of discipline and resilience
🔹 Binding: Waxed cord, hand-bound with precision
🔹 Finish: Smooth satin polish to preserve natural grain
🔹 Artist: Hemi, Māori carver based in Ōtautahi, age 15
Whether worn for strength, gifted for protection, or treasured as a reminder of one's path, this toki carries both story and mauri (life force).
