🧩 Access Rongoā Māori and Hauora Support Through MSD
Whakapakari Ora has supported clients to access our services through the Ministry of Social Development (MSD), including via the Disability Allowance. While this support is not guaranteed for everyone, we have seen it work on a case-by-case basis — especially where healing or counselling is recommended by a registered health professional.
We encourage whānau to speak with their GP or case manager to explore this pathway and see if funding may be available for services such as:
- Whakawhiti Kōrero – Traditional Māori talk therapy
- Mirimiri – Māori therapeutic bodywork
- Hauora Coaching – Holistic wellness and navigation
- Emotional support and trauma-informed healing
✅ Who Might Be Eligible?
You may be able to access support through MSD if you:
- Have a long-term health condition or disability
- Are receiving a Disability Allowance through WINZ
- Have a doctor’s recommendation for counselling or healing support
- Are working with an MSD case manager or social support agency
- Are a caregiver or whānau member supporting tamariki or rangatahi with high needs
🛠 What Could Be Covered?
With the right approval, MSD may help fund:
- Regular or one-off counselling and mirimiri sessions
- Healing support for stress, grief, trauma, or anxiety
- Complementary therapies including karakia and rongoā guidance
