This unique half-moon pendant, hand-carved by 15-year-old artist Hemi, draws inspiration from Te Marama (the Moon) and her ever-changing phases. The natural patterns in this stone echo the silhouettes of māhina (moonlight) across the night sky — a taonga (treasure) full of wairua (spiritual essence).
Each curve of this piece has been shaped with patience and precision, reflecting Hemi’s growing mastery as a young artist trained under tohunga whakairo (carving experts). The piece is carefully balanced — light meeting dark — and invites the wearer to honour both reflection and strength.
