Rongoā & Mirimiri Aftercare Advice

PLEASE REST, DRINK PLENTY OF WATER, AND KEEP YOUR DIET LIGHT AFTER YOUR HOLISTIC TREATMENT

During a Rongoā Māori or Mirimiri session, you may experience sensations such as warmth, tingling, pressure, or a deep sense of relaxation. Some people feel immediate relief, while others notice shifts in their wairua (spirit) and tinana (body) in the days following their treatment.

It is common to experience a natural cleansing response as your body processes and releases toxins. This is sometimes referred to as a healing crisis (Herxheimer Reaction), where the body expels toxins that have been stored in the tissues. As these toxins move through the body, you may notice temporary discomfort, which is a natural part of the healing process.

This reaction varies for each person—some may have mild symptoms, while others may feel more intense effects. These typically subside within 2-3 days, though in rare cases, they may last a little longer.

Possible Responses to Healing

You may experience one or more of the following within 24 hours of your session, lasting for several days:

🌿 Increased Urination – Your body is flushing toxins; urine may have a stronger smell or darker color.
🌿 Changes in Bowel Movements – You may pass more stool, experience wind, or have a slightly upset stomach.
🌿 Cold or Flu-like Symptoms – More mucus, a runny nose, mild fever, or sore throat.
🌿 Increased Sweating – A sign of detoxification.
🌿 Old Conditions Resurfacing – Past ailments that were suppressed may reappear temporarily before fully clearing.
🌿 Changes in Sleep Patterns – Deeper sleep, vivid dreams, or temporary restlessness.
🌿 Vaginal Discharge – Some wahine (women) may notice an increase in discharge as part of the body's cleansing.
🌿 Changes in Menstrual Cycle – Flow may temporarily increase.
🌿 Pressure in the Head / Headaches – Some experience headaches as part of the body’s recalibration.
🌿 Energy Shifts – Initial deep relaxation may be followed by a surge of energy—avoid over-exertion to allow your body to heal.
🌿 Nausea – A rare but possible reaction to deep energy work.
🌿 Bruising or Aches – Certain areas of the body may feel tender as stored tension is released.
🌿 Emotional Releases – You may feel teary, overwhelmed, or even euphoric without a clear reason—this is part of emotional healing.
